You Ask - I Answer
HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?
Typically, a session hour is 45-50 minutes in length. Session hours are set per unit of treatment. For instance say the parents want to have a session for couples therapy or parenting, that would be one session hour. If the same parents chose to have a family session with them and their children, that would be a separate session hour, and so on. Each unit of treatment has their own separate session hour and each session hour is charged the set session fee.
HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED?
There is no set number of sessions for therapy. The first will be a diagnostic session where your therapist gets to meet with you and learn about the challenges you face. This informational session helps guide your therapist into knowing your goals in therapy and personalizing future sessions to achieve your goals better and it allows you the opportunity to see if your therapist matches your needs. Getting to know your therapist can take some time, though, and it can take between 4-6 session just to know and trust your therapist. Depending upon the severity of the challenges you face will also determine the number of sessions. Your therapist should be able to inform you about their abilities to help achieve your goals and that should include a time frame to accomplish those goals.
